I think these are also known as Horned Grebes in the USA. Like their cousins, the Great Crested Grebe, which is famous for their elaborate courtship displays, comprising of much standing upright on the water, synchronised dancing and the passing of presents of water weeds between the pair, Slavonian grebes also have a very unusual display. This is one part of it.
Their heads make me think of cobras.
