Also known as Todger Jones, he was born on Christmas Day 1880, in Runcorn. For his bravery during the First World War he was awarded the Victoria Cross, the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
He died in Runcorn, at the age of 75, in 1956.
This statue was unveiled in the gardens opposite the Cenotaph in Runcorn on 3 August this year.
