I spent ages watching these two juvenile Herons, and their parents. They provided endless fun. Their nest was just to the left of me, but partly hidden. Fortunately they spent a lot of time in the pools in front of me, singly or in many different combinations. The one landing had just almost dive bombed his sibling as he passed barely inches above his head. Their antics reminded me of giant water based squabbling Starlings.
Nice capture. Their head combs (or whatever they are called) seem quite prominent in this shot. I wonder is that just how they are in juveniles, or is it because of some aggressive antics between the siblings?
Love these two - light and colors are terrific.
By the way, I tried cropping the little boy just below the hands, and I couldn't believe the difference in the way the eyes stood out. Many thanks for the prompt.
