The UK's third species of swan, a Bewick Swan.
We have the orange beaked resident Mute Swan. Then the yellow and black beaked Whooper Swan, mainly a winter visitor from Iceland, although a few pairs breed every year in the far north of Scotland.
The Bewick Swan is our smallest species of swan and is a winter visitor from Siberia.
They also have black and yellow beaks, but proportionally have more black and less yellow than Whoopers.
I really like close ups of swans with a tight crop like this. I like how the eye despite being in shadow, is still clearly and expressively peeping out at you.
