AN OLD CROFT by markp

AN OLD CROFT

The population on the Isle of Coll, now a days is about 200. It was at one time over 1,400, but then a combination of potato famine and the clearances lead to a drastic reduction of people. This lead to many of these old crofts being abandoned. Some of them have been re-roofed with grass turf, not sure if its to show how they used to be, or whether some of the local farmers have a use for them now a days.

This one is at the village of Sorisdale, at the East End of Coll.

More from today's travels here......
