SLUGGAN BRIDGE by markp

SLUGGAN BRIDGE

Further upstream than the iconic Old Packhorse Bridge at Carrbridge, Sluggan Bridge has an interesting history too.
The first crossing of the River Dulnain at this point was part of General George Wades military road, which was built in the 17th century. The original bridge was believed to have been washed away by the 1829 floods.
This replacement was built shortly afterwards.

Lovely scene and interesting commentary. Is the water always this low?

@mccarth1 Thank you Kerry. No, the last couple of months have been fairly dry, and the water levels and flows are below average. Sometimes I would have been swept away, trying to stand here.
