Van Nelle Factory by mastermek

Van Nelle Factory

The buildings were designed by architect Leendert van der Vlugt and civil engineer J.G. Wiebenga, at that time a specialist for constructions in reinforced concrete. The factory is an example of modern architecture (het Nieuwe Bouwen) in the Netherlands and was built between 1925 and 1931.

They used to process coffee, tea and tobacco and later also chewing gum, cigarettes, instant pudding and rice. Today it houses a wide variety of new media and design companies and is known as the Van Nelle Design Factory (Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek) with lots of space for meetings, conventions and events.

In 2015, the Van Nelle Factory topped the list of The 25 Most Beautiful Factories in the World.
