The Netherlands and bikes are inseparable. Don't rent a bike at Rotterdam The Hague Airport though, if possible at all. If you do, don't try to leave the airport using the bike lane, just ride some circles before leaving for home again.
And don't take to many pictures when you cycle around the airport either. I got stop by the Royal Marechaussee, a special police force, moments after taking this picture.
'What are we doing?'
'Well, I don't know about you but I'm taking pictures of a bike lane.'
