Collecting fine dust to make tableware...

...and to make a statement.

Architect Iris de Kievith and designer and researcher Annemarie Piscaer use the dust in the enamel for ceramics which they call 'SerVies'. The word 'servies' means tableware but the Dutch word 'vies' translates as filty. A spot on word twist. 'SerVies' must raise awareness of air pollution in an appealing way.

When I passed by on my bike I though she was cleaning those noise barriers to make the corner safer, which only turned out to be a nice bonus on her actual job. In return she asked me if I came to help. (Un)fortunately I had a lousy excuse about going to work...

By crossing our city by bike only, I may be slightly less guilty but even more vulnerable. We actually should all consider helping locally! Only then you will realise the devastating effects of our needs to travel.
