Instead I show you Gerrit de Jongh's fierce appearance (1845 - 1917). De Jongh was decisive for the development of the city of Rotterdam and the expansion of the ports.
A day after his death in 1917, the Rotterdam city council decided to build a memorial. Due to bickering it took until 1935 before the memorial (by Leendert Bolle) was revealed. It was not finished yet but it coincided with the opening of the adjacent new museum Boymans.
