Dungeness Lighthouse by megpicatilly

Dungeness Lighthouse

Dungeness is indescribable. A place you either like or hate. Very bleak and most of the properties are built from railway carriages. They sell for a small fortune!! There are two lighthouses - this is the 'new' one which began service in 1961. The old one is much more attractive, built in 1901 and opened by the Prince of Wales, who was later King George V. It is now registered for marriage ceremonies!
How fascinating! Great night shot too.

Beautifully atmospheric.

Lovely shot and interesting that you have taken it landscape rather than portrait and it works so much better with that lovely space on the right. Just a little more space at the top would be good... Great contrast..

This is most excellent. Bags of atmosphere - love it 👍👍

@photobird I chose landscape because I liked the way it was 'looking' out to sea! You are quite right - a bit more space at the top would have been much better. I will go back and take another shot. Thank you.

@onewing Thank you - I took this just before sunset - the colours were lovely, but didn't really portray the atmosphere I wanted.

Very 60's in style. There is bleakness and isolation conveyed.
