Please Don't Stop the Music

I was in the living room and happened to like the way the sunlight was hitting a stack of records. I took this shot in color and black and white but liked the black and white version better in camera. Here, not so much. It looks too dark to me. I'm uploading anyways, maybe somebody can tell me if my settings are wrong...??????

Suggestions to make it lighter? I tried the "curves" effect on Picnik, but didn't see much change. Then again, I never used that tool before.

@mej2011 just up the exposure ? Or TINT with white color in screen mode ?

I like the dark of it all. Obviously you need the dark to enhance the sunlight ;)
