@bobfoto
Thanks Jason! Unfortunately, I had zoom out pretty far, and had the camera on action/sport mode because I just don't think I'm quick enough to get an action shot any other way.
@mej2011 - Unfortunately that zoom out all the way will be hard to keep steady, but you've got all the right ideas happening here. Shots like this is what you come back to when you say to your bank balance, time for a big arsed DSLR and a monster telephoto...
@mej2011 - anti shake can only do so much... even the big DSLRs have that feature. The most noticeable thing is take a look at the front of your camera and check out the size of your lens, and then think about the 58mm or 63mm sizes of some of the telephoto lenses. The amount of light that can get into your camera will determine how fast and how sharp your shots can be.
Having said that, wonderful photos can be achieved with cameras like yours and also with point and shoots. We both know that. But glass is the key ;)
This is amazing just the same. I have very similar deer shots... you can still share the amazing moment even if the photo isn't what you'd hoped. I'm jealous! :-)

I agree, it was hard to keep steady. supposedly my camera has an "anti-shake" feature, but I think it lies. lol.
Thanks Jani!
