Not Ansel Adams

I really like black and white photographs of trees. I don't know why, but I do. There is a tree going out of town that I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to photograph in black and white. Unfortunately, the logistics make it impossible. So, I settle for a tree in my backyard. I feel like there is too much dead space behind the tree here and there aren't enough dark tones for my liking. Opinions?????
It has an Ansel Adams feel to it -- but I usually think of his as having more drama in the contrasts. I like the composition.

I agree completely about the contrasts. I guess I need to learn more about how to achieve them. Thanks for looking and commenting!

@mej2011 I use a processing program sometimes, called Nik Sliver Efex Pro 2. It has several presets that you can use as a starting point, and then adjust as you want to.

Thanks for the tip, I"ll look into it. I dabbled a bit in Ribbet ( a free online program), but couldn't get the contrast I was happy with.

I just ran an unedited version of this photo through Photoscape and got MUCH BETTER contrast. Lesson learned, I'll have to remember photoscape.
