He looks cool! And yay for adding new birdies on your "spotted" list! I have no recollection of seeing one of those when I lived around there - is it a rare visit?
@mej2011 Ah, ok. Yes, not much in the sense of "bodies of water" in the middle of the cornfields where I lived. :D I might've seen more of them, if we would've stayed at the cabin of my second family more, it was by a small lake in, umm, well, I forget where. :D Hahahah! Mt Carmel, perhaps?
@mej2011 The Rotary exchange program includes a switch of families in the middle of the year. So my first family was a dairy farmer family living just outside of Newton town area and my second family was a Presbyterian minister and his wife who lived in town. I switched families right after Christmas.
@mej2011 Hahah, no city life for me. :D I think there were about 6000 people living in Newton at that time. A small town, in other words. :) But I did get to visit Chicago, St Louis, NY, LA, SF... ;)
@mej2011 Oh, yes. I loved that I was able to visit so many cool places back then. I would dearly love to re-visit most places, now that I'm older and (hopefully) wiser. And definitely a better photographer. ;)
@mej2011 Lack of money, mostly. :D This year will see me visit Crete and London, it'll be quite a while before I can afford anything else. The last time I traveled any further than Stockholm was back in 2007...
@mej2011 It's actually 1 am. :D I'm trying to make my way to bed, but stupidly got stuck watching the final minutes of a movie, Hannibal. Yuch. I've got the day off tomorrow (well, today..,) so I'm in no trouble. ;)
They live in this area year round, but live near water, so maybe you just weren't close enough to a water source to see them.
You lived in the same area twice, with two different families?
Interesting. At least you got to experience both the farm and "city" life. Although I'm not sure what kind of "city" would be there. lol.
Thanks so much!
yay for Chicago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But at least you've been! It's so funny to me when I hear people here saying that they've never been.
So, what's stopping you?
Ah. At least you're traveling.
Thanks Rik!
What are you doing online? Isn't midnight-ish there?
woo hoo! foreign birds!
