Motion

Trying again to get some movement with my Newton's Cradle. I sort of have moment in the back, but still need to work on this idea. I looked on 365 for similar pictures to see what settings were used, but in the end used my "guide mode" and then tweaked the settings from there. 18-55 Lens. Thoughts?

Editing consisted of Photoshop Elements 12's Black and White effect, straighten and crop tools in Ribbet.
Really creative shot. I don't know what to advise about how to do it, but I wonder if somehow the shadows could be used to emphasize movement.

Nice shot Melissa. To catch more movement I would suggest a longer shutter speed. If you can prop the camera on a table or something for stability, the longer shutter speed will also help bring down the ISO if you want to do that.

@obmcreations
Thanks for the tips! I had actually set the ISO myself because I had originally started out using settings I found someone else's similar 365 shot.

@taffy
Thanks Taffy! I thought the shadow might help, until I realize you see my hand too.

Great shot and I was going to suggest the same thing as OBM Creations . The slower shutter would show a lot more movement

@mikekutz
Thanks! I will probably try this shot again tomorrow as I want to get it right and may not have a lot of time for other ideas....
