@yvonneknitsknots asked me to do a photo in which depth of field is an important factor for my get pushed challenge this week. As I've not yet mastered the ins and outs of my Nikon D3200, this was certainly a challenge. Settings that would have worked well on my Coolpix P100 don't apply, so it takes a bit if tinkering to figure things out. I think this works, yes?
Shot on Manual Mode with the 18-55 lens. Editing consisted of Photoshop Elements 12 "Light Leak" effect and a small crop in Ribbet.
Melissa, looks like we are get pushed partners for this next week. I would like to challenge you to shoot an action or motion shot this week. Show action through use of motion blur. This could even be a panning shot. Good luck and have fun.
@westcoastwallis
Woo hoo! Thanks! I wasn't sure. Focus was a challenge on this shot, obviously I tried for the face, but the camera wanted to focus on the chest area. Maybe my camera is a man. lol
You should try the "focus and recompose" method. Where you hold the shutter button down halfway to lock the focus and then move the camera to compose it how you'd like...
Is this a jewelry box? Really brings back memories (I have two sons and am the only girl in the house). Lovely idea and image -- the composition really makes it work.

I normally utilize that method, this was kind of just a "I had it in my head, so I wanted to get out done" shot. lol.
Thanks! Will do!
Eh. It's okay. lol. Thanks!
Thanks Yvonne!
