This little azalea type plant is in my front yard waiting for spring. Tomorrow's March word of the day is spring or autumn but I think I will use it for today.
What a beautifully composed shot Marilyn. The dof is great, the colours super and I love the sprinkling of snow on each of the bud clusters. Great job!
Looks great large. Nice shot. If I may make a constructive suggestion though, if this image has a problem it is that there is a bit of noise that I venture didn't need to be there. The Rebel XS is going to do that to you at ISO800. Sometimes you need to push up to that in a dark environment because something is better than nothing but in this case, I would have taken the aperture down to F4.0 or F5.6 depending on what your lens can do and then reduced the ISO as far as that would allow. The other tool you have is lowering the shutter speed so you can drop the ISO but I see you are at 300mm zoom so 1/250th is probably as low as you can go if it was hand held. Hope you don't mind the uninvited input.
@david68 Thank you for the critique, David. I don't mind at all. I was taking it hand held. I will play with the settings you mentioned to see what I get. I did use aperture mode on a few of the shots, some at f11 and some at f8. I do use P mode a lot and need to get out of my comfort zone and try other different settings. Thanks again for the suggestions.
Lovely DoF and wonderful with the highlights of snow
