And yes, the communist architecture was perhaps utilitarian. I still haven't seen a nice (at least) looking communist building. But it was also the way things were at the time, whatever the rulers.
Romanian towns and small towns, but also some of the larger cities, all have such an unpolished diamond. It was the local general store at the time.
