The last four months have been a watercolor blur of events. We moved from Texas to Oregon. Packed our two cars and hit the road with our goal to be coastal bound. We scored an old bungalow in North Bend. Upper unit on a busy intersection with no yard and lots of road noise. The beach was about 15 mins away. Lots of interior space for us but no yard quickly became a big drag and taking two dogs out to potty near a busy road was ruff. I started a new job position within my company, Josh secured handyman work, we both caught Covid but only Josh tested positive, but I felt worse…. And through all of this, we kept dreaming of a yard, salty beach mist, less traffic noise. In October we stumbled across a Craigslist ad for an Airstream with a yard a block from the beach approximately 2 hours north of us in Yachats. We set up a video call with the owners ( we were the first to apply out of a long and eager list). We drove down to check it out and fell in love. A mad dash to sign papers and get the place secured and with a very sad bank account afterwards we had an Airstream rental and a Bend Bungalow. We put in our notice the last day of October and had a month to set up everything and moved the day after Black Friday. We arrived in the dark, dirty clothes because the laundromat was closed for the holidays and proceeded to unpack in the dark with one lamp and a flashlight. The fridge was broken, the fence down, and the shower wouldn’t offer anything past lukewarm, but the ocean calmed our weary spirits. A week into Airstream life and living in 200 square feet with two adults and two large dogs, we are fully fenced, chilled fridge, and the shower super steamy… for about 15 minutes. We are grateful. We love this little slice of beach we can call home. We are monthly renters but hopefully we will be here for many months to come…
