Lone Fishie

Last night, I arrived home from Mum and Dad's place from where I was house-sitting. However, when I opened the front door, I found the place was smelly... it wasn't the rubbish/garbage, I had put that out before leaving last Sunday.

Looking over at the fish tank, I found Ginger - the gold goldfish - had died while I was away. Poor little thing! I raced over and pulled it out immediately; but the water stunk! So, I changed the water completely last night but the white one wasn't happy.

Today, I went to the local pet store down the road and they asked if I had changed the gravel. When I said that my brother said i didn't have to, they said to get in and completely clean out the whole tank and change the gravel.
So, today, I did just that. So far, Fred is going okay... I've caught some crap coming out of the pump, but he's looking happier; but not by much.

I'll see how he's going and if he dies, well, I'll get myself another couple of fish after this.
Oh my, poor little guy must have been terrified having his partner floating around in there. Hope it all works out.

@digitalrn I don't think he's going to survive the night... he's been on the bottom of the tank all afternoon and hasn't been eating. He hid from me all night... so I think his number's up soon too. :(

@digitalrn On Sunday afternoon - at around 2:40pm - Fred died. He had been sitting on the bottom of the tank for the last 24 hours and wasn't breathing all that well. So, after I noticed he was having problems swimming, as well as breathing, I took him out of the tank and let him go instead of suffer the next 10 minutes.

Poor little guy. He and Ginger were around 5 years old and that's old for goldfish. But truthfully, I think Fred died from being in the water for too long after Ginger died and he was poisoned by the toxins released by his partner.

@digitalrn yeah, but these little guys were really old - being about 5 years old and having been moved around a few times... it was good to have been in a nice place to die; like my house. And they were cared for well too and had cool things to swim around.
