'Calling somebody else fat won't make you any skinner'

-Mean Girls, 2004.

This morning on the bus, someone started giving me 'dieting tips' on how to 'reduce the fat in my diet'. This made me very, very angry. Firstly, I'm in recovery from an eating disorder. Secondly, I have almost no fat in my diet. Thirdly, this girl isn't exactly a beanpole herself... So all in all, it's been an incredibly difficult day.

I'm so sick of society being centered around weight and food and weightloss and all of that crap. Seriously, worse things can happen in life then becoming fat. Yet it seems to be the main topic of conversation. It drives me up the wall.
Dear Naomi, do not bother about such stupide people, they do not know what they are doing and just are obsessive whit their diet. I have to deal whit that sort of people almost every day at work in lunch break. so I learned to not listening to them anymore. because it is them who have a problem whit food and weight not me, I'm not small, but I do not matter any more

:( How rude of her! You diet isn't any of her business!!

The image here is powerful! Well done

Naomi, just ignore them. I can imagine it's difficult, but who the hell cares about having 2 kg more than you should. Seriously, there are worse things to worry about, and this isn't important! just be yourself, continue doing perfect photographies and focus on school !
And seriously, I think the best way to keep a positive point of view is eating everything and anytime you like. Just don't stress to much, food should be something to enjoy, not to worry about :)

please don't let that mean girl get to you!! live for YOU :)

Eat a healthy diet and a varied one... at your age you don't need any other suggestions. As Agnes said... don't listen to them!

Maybe she was just talking about what she is doing for herself. I would surely hope it wasn't directed towards you. There is NOTHING wrong with your weight. A woman can be told hundreds of times how beautiful she is, but only remember the one time someone calls her ugly. I am going to say that she doesn't deserve to occupy your mind with her ugly words. You are gorgeous. I love this shot and think it is very powerful. But you are far from fat.

If she does it again tell her it's actually western societies addiction to sugar that is making people fat. Well so a personal trainer friend of mine told me anyway. It makes me angry too. Life is way too short to spend it criticising others, just go out there and live yours to the full! I like your shot, great representation of your struggles.

Very powerful image. Sorry to hear you had a hard time today - some people need to learn to keep their opinions to themselves!

I agree with Jen - you have expressed yourself very well through your photo today. To say ignore them is easy - but do what is best for you and no one else. You are the one that matters. Keep your chin up:)

Another creative photograph very well done; I agree with Dora, your comments this year and last year on NEDA have shown a more adult response,

Great shot to represent your day. It's a shame that someone felt the need to offload on you - though the people who do that are often hiding their own insecurities by transferring them to other people. Thank you for sharing your eating disorder with us too - I know it can be hard.

Wow. I don't know what to say. That is ridiculous. I don't know why anybody would feel the need to say that. You are far from fat and it's horrible to think that someone else is taking out their insecurities on you. Just remember you are an intelligent, successful and beautiful young woman who doesn't deserve any of this nonsense.

If you ever want to talk to me, you know where I am xxxx

seriously??? for her to imply that you need to diet is ridiculous and I believe is more a reflection of her own insecurities. I'm guess that she was somehow trying to make herself feel better... Fortunately you seem to have a good head on your shoulders and recognize that there is more to life than obsessing over weight and food, so good for you! you are smart, and talented, and seem to be a beautiful person judging from your pictures here! so i hope you will just forget about her words which really mean nothing! :)

Thoughtful picture. We actually talked about this in my classes today.

I know this is a bit late, but I really hope you don't listen to them. I know what it's like to feel like that, and obviously you do too, but don't let them get in the way of you being happy and confident. Feel free to let me know if you want to talk anytime (:

OMG! People can be so thoughtless....high school is only 4 years long, and you will probably never associate with most of these people again. Remember you are beautiful and talented as well.
