Today I finally cleared the last of the bags and piles of admin from my time in hospital (it builds up!), then went to work for a bit, then had a wobble, then started tea, went to meet a friend for coffee (which was super lovely!), came home, and finished tea whilst playing with Lucky.
My wobble was pretty valid. It was the second or third time I'd started crying since I started work and I only worked for a couple of hours. It wasn't to do with that job, it was to do with some other stuff, but by head was beating me up. I pressed on working, though, until I realised that there was no point! I have time tomorrow to finish my hours!
I remembered that in my relapse prevention work, I wrote a letter to future me and it included something about how if I was going to feel crap, I might as well feel crap with a nobbly bobbly in my hand. The sun was shining. I remembered how good I feel with the grass on my feet.
So I stopped work, went downstairs, picked up a nobbly bobbly out of the freezer, and went outside. I sat on my patio with my feet on the grass. There was some wind, but it was sunny. Nextdoors cat came for some love (he loves my house - his brother used to live here - but I can't let him inside at the moment because of Lucky).
It was only about ten minutes. But it really helped. I felt SO much better.
I've just found exactly what I wrote in that letter, I put: 'Your mood might be low, but giving into anorexia isn’t going to fix that. It will make it worse. Yeah, your mood might not be so great even if you’re eating. But wouldn’t you rather feel sad whilst eating a nobbly bobbly than feel sad and be nobbly-bobbly-less?'.
Past me was wise!
(Also, this is SOOC!!! I'm getting better at my settings again!!!)
Wise you! And I also learned a new word from you today: nobbly bobbly (sorry not a native English speaker) and a very important one too as my children love icecreams 😊
I love your illustration to this heart warming story. Being able to employ such techniques is going to work wonders for you. Past you and Present you are both wise.
@overalvandaan thank you - ooo they're a type of ice cream here! They're like chocolate ice cream with strawberry ice cream around it and then chocolate on the outside with sprinkles on @helenhall thank you. Being well and using techniques is hard but they are working! @pyrrhula thank you - I'll have a proper look later on :) @kali66 absolutely x @olivetreeann Haha try it - you never know!!! @pixiemac thank you, lovely. I hope you're doing okay x @sarahlth thank youi! @craftytmeg hanks :)
