Blue Skies by naomi

Blue Skies

Today I dropped my friend at the station, dropped my car off for its MOT, chilled with a book for a bit, went to town to meet my friend for lunch which was absolutely wonderful, then came home before picking up my car and doing the weekly shop.

I’m exhausted!

I’m having lots of difficult thoughts and feelings today. About anorexia. About what it’s done to my life. Both because today I walked routes that I walked a lot when I was very unwell and haven’t walked since, and because I had to go to three supermarkets to get what I needed today because of the lactose intolerance issue (which has been caused by anorexia). I’m in such a different place now, but anorexia will always be part of my story.
I guess it is always going to be with you Naomi. But hopefully as time goes on, it will fade and the intolerances will somehow become a normal part of your life. We have all made decisions that change the course of our lives for the worse, but good things can still come out of it. It is a privilege to follow your story and have a better understanding of the recovery process and of the illness you have suffered.

It does sound that you are very aware of where you are now and where you were then. That can only be positive and helpful as you continue your journey in a much healthier way. Congratulations on making healthy choices now, Naomi. Wish I could meet you for coffee and a walk:) And photos....of course!

Life is made of stories you`ve lived. Good ones , bad ones. They make who you are. Try to remember the good ones and learn from the bad ones. That`s the road we all have to travel.

I think the difference now is that when you walk those routes you are walking with a much healthier set of choices. I am sure there are some things that will be with you as a result of the anorexia- it takes a terrible toll on the body. But the body is also quite amazing and I wouldn't be surprised that as you continue on the healthier side of your path that in time you might find you can tolerate a little more dairy- maybe not a lot, but some. So for now just reminder yourself as you shop around that it's a GOOD thing that you have to keep looking because you're choosing to look for the right foods to EAT! And this by the way is a very pretty country road!

Of course anorexia will always be part of your story but as you progress that chapter will get further and further behind you.
