so... i got me a fog machine... but i am struggling with lighting... yesterday's failed shot was with the light perpendicular to the camera... this one, and the one in my other album are, obviously, shot into the light... this seems a little better, but still seems to be lacking something... suggestions?
love the fog too! very creepy as they are positioned right towards the viewer. wish i had suggestions, but i'm no pro....would love it more if i didn't see the light source, but don't know how that would work!
@moreyoulessme that's a good point about the lightsource... not sure how to address that tho'... that's what i'd been trying for in yesterday's shot, but it really didn't work... i started a thread and maybe someone will have a suggestion...
Ha! Just looking at the thumbnail I thought...wait is that a fog machine?! I have one that we used to use for karaoke in the basement (yes I am aware of ho that sounds lol). I think I might need to dig it out. That shot looks like fun!
@sunshinephoto5 no flash in this... altho' i do have one so i could try that... what might i bounce the light off of, and in which direction? this is the kind of thing where i really need to experiment, but the fog gets a bit overwhelming pretty quickly...
@kwind i got this one at the amazing party store (i think that's what it's called), but they also have them at the spirit of hallowe'en store (again, assuming i've got the name right)... it seems pretty standard... there were two sizes... i bought the smaller one... it does just fine in fogging up the house ;p
@northy try off camera, bouncing off the wall, the light might bounce back to light up a bit more fog, but i really like this. is it that you can see the light over the shoe? i like that it's almost like a headlight of a car, making it that more mysterious :)
@sunshinephoto5 i think it's more the reflection that annoys me... also, i think i should have tried for a very slightly higher pov... but that's nothing to do with the lighting... i'll have to give this another go on the weekend and see what i can try with the lights... tx!
The shot definitely looks like something out of Bela Lugosia's film archives! I'm not certain of how to diffuse the light source but that might take the bright round circle out of the shot. Maybe one of those square reflectors they use for portraits??? Cool shot!
