i dream of adventure... and apparently creating craptastic messes ;p
this is for my "get pushed" challenge... this week, @nanderson challenged me to take "a color shot of something you would like to be (besides a mom and photographer) and that would make you happy or something that no one knows you have a secret passion for..."
although i am very much a city girl, the fact is, i love adventure, and would love to escape into the corners of time, alternate universes and alien shores...
this is a bit of a cheat... this is a composite (obviously), and all components were taken by me, but not all were taken this week...
the street shot in b&w is from this week - at the intersection of Yonge and Dundas in Toronto... a location that featured prominently in my project last year...
the alien landscape is from a shot i took up in Yellowknife in September... i messed with the colour channels in PS to make it all red ;p
the moons are both from the same original image - my moon shot from back in June... played with curves again and some clone stamping to make 'em red and a bit different...
and the shot of me is from today :)
also using this for my five plus two challenge shot - this week is "dreams"
@nanderson - not sure this is what you were expecting, but it's kinda where my mind went... i have another idea (similar concept, different theme, if you will) but it will require cooperation from my kids and some time, so not sure i will get it done this weekend...
Wow...beyond my expectation. I too love sci-fi so this is close to my heart...you are an adventurer of time and place.....how cool is that. I love how you combined all the shots and more than fulfilled the challenge. I like your answer to the color challenge as well! It is beautiful, intriguing and complex! I think it is fabulous and fav! Lucky you...I am going to post a old gadget...haha..:) Thanks for the out of this world pic..!:):)
@kwind it wasn't awful... the main thing was the trial and error aspect... i took four runs at cutting up the street scene to get it right... and two shoots of me standing... i don't think it was more than 2 or 3 hours all told over a couple of evenings (if you include the trial and error bits)... if i did it again it would go much quicker i think...
Fantastically creative! It does look like you really took a lot of time on this and the result really pops -- the red escape path is what drew me in when I saw it in my feed and on trending page.
Total fav - very creative and well executed! Many times when I'm downtown I wish I could just open a portal to walk through to get away from the crush of people!
This is really intriguing -- I like the way you've visualized entry into another time or place; its bright color against the black and white background is perfect. Fav
This is wonder-full! I also like how it looks as if the fellow on the street is going to follow you as if he's saying, "I'm with you Lady! It's too cold here!" Great idea, great editing and great job on the challenge. fav
Absolutely love the adventure. Without your explanation I still would've imagined alien shores. To unzip the fabric of daily life and escape into an exotic adventure are the things that I dream of most. I'd hang this on my wall so I could always dream of awaiting adventures. Love it!
