down the rabbit hole (redux)

This is one of those times when i am not sure whether i like this or not... i like the comp and tones - but the focus and exposure are questionable... the thing is i couldn't reproduce the comp - and even if i could, i'm pretty sure i don't know how to keep the tones but fix the exposure without some complicated lighting that would probably require me to stand on my head...

this is for the 5+2 weekly challenge - this week the theme is technology... i have a love-hate relationship with it... i love what it can do... i love the fact that in something smaller than an ice-cream sandwich i can have my phone, my music, my books, my brain puzzles... AND it can buy me a mochafrappa at starbucks...

but i don't like how easy it is to be sucked in and how dependent i've become... how dependent we've all become... i don't like how technology is driving decisions about things that shouldn't be about technology... nor do i like the fact that the tech squad can hold the rest of the known world hostage charging thousands of dollars to do things that i'm pretty sure none of us thought we needed done 30 years ago...

so... yeah... there ya go... selfie... technology... the vortex...

I like your composition...the focus and exposure are very tricky for a shot like this...but I really like your comments. I agree with you whole-heartily on the love/hate relationship with technology...we're all addicts and just hate to admit it. I see a great 'beginning' of a theme that's right down your artistic photo alley...;~)

With you on your philosophical musings/misgivings re, technology but what connects this shot with rabbit holes? I can't see the Alice, Looking Glass or Wonderland connection, but it is getting late!

@yrhenwr actually - it's mostly that i think this is a crappy picture... i was shooting tethered and if the focus and exposure had been better you would have seen the droste effect of shooting at the screen that sees what the camera sees... like in the shot below...

I really like this as an illustration of technology's vortex. I see your concerns re tone, but to me, that's not the point of the image. I get the message, theme easily and think, for what it's worth, that it's a cleverly done image.
