ok - let's face it... i am never going to be good at portraiture because i just don't like it... i was meant to be doing a "senior shoot" for my get pushed challenge set by @stephan_haay... i'm not sure the concept exists here, and in any event, i don't have access to any high school seniors... this is my kid who's in his first year of high school and kindly agreed to pose for me... for a fee ;p
Awesome portrait. If you pull him slightly further from the background, you could get a bit of blur for the background instead of the textures of the wall. Also, it'd be cool to see how this would look if you cropped off part of the side (the side he isn't looking into) but those are just suggestions. I think this is a really nice shot.
if he meant 'senior' as in over 60, ya know i coulda helped yah. :-D handsome fellow you spawned there, kiddo. movie star material, i mean real movie star.
@summerfield gawd! i hope not - he's got a pretty swollen head already! i actually originally thought the challenge meant for me to take photos of senior citizens... and yeah, i do know a few... and not one of them (you included) would i dare to refer to as a "senior" ;p
@northy - hey, proud to be a senior. when i was in manila last, i enjoyed being a senior, 20% off of stuff, priority in long taxi lineups, free movies.
I am in your court when in comes to portraiture although I think you did a fine job here. I just feel self-conscious taking photos of subjects that are conscious of me and then I can’t get into a creative mode! I like to be lost in my own head when I’m doing photography. (By now, you’re thinking I’m a whack job, right?)
