this is the result of using a setting i apparently do not understand ;p
i was trying for HDR (NOT something i ever tinker with, but i was pushed and was experimenting)... my camera says it was taking three bracketed images, but i think it decided to combine them without my intervention, and this was the result (more or less - there was some etsooi - but really, not all that much!)...
anyway, i kind of like it even if it was mostly accidental :)
I like it too, but that's not the point... does it communicate how you saw it? I don't get HDR... I thought it was to even out dark, light and mid exposures. Which is a rubbish thing to do! OK I suppose if you want scene to look like everybody else sees it, but I want to see how you see it. Also If the camera had combined three different exposures wouldn't this come out more evenly exposed?
@yrhenwr thank you :) that pretty much sums up my rant against HDR... it's predicated on an assumption that does not hold true for me... i am interested in neither what is generally considered a "correct" exposure nor in the granular detail generated thru HDR... i get that it may work for others... just not me :) as for how this picture came out the way it did - no clue... in any event, i think i have now found the correct setting on the camera for HDR so i will see what comes out of it... i always think it's a good exercise to be able to thoroughly articulate why one doesn't like something and i can only do that if i know how it works!
And it has your trade-mark take on it.
