Glitbrook by oldjosh

Glitbrook

The name, believed to come from the old English name Gylden Brock meaning golden stream or brook. The brook runs through the nearby field, a pleasant walk. Some of the streets are named after the leader of the Pentrich rising which occurred on the night of 9/10 June 1817. At Glitbrook they were met by a small force of solders from the 15th regiment of Light Dragoons most of the revolutionist scattered although about 40 were captured.
