Yesterday we had a historic black out here in San Diego! From Arizona all the way into Mexico! Everyone lost power at 3:40 pm and it stayed off until the middle of the night! It was 100 deg and with no air conditioning, it was a little sticky. When the sun went down it was so bizarre! Downtown was black, no street lights and it was silent! The only lights were people walking the streets with their flash lights! It was surreal! Makes one think about how depended we are on electricity!
All the schools are closed today in our county so what to do today...DisneyLand! I'll catch up with everyone tomorrow! Thank you all so much for all your comments and fav's on my last pic! You guys rock! :)
we played poker and walked around cuz driving was just crazy with all the lights out! glad to see you found something to entertain yourself ha
great picture too love it!
WOW thats so freaky! Next time you have an outage, call the electric co and ask them to hook you up. I do it and they always add me first in line on priority. squeeky wheels! lol
Love this gone postal shot, Jerry! Excellent metaphor and concept!!!
@f365 It was a crazy experience! Fun though! @bella_ss Driving was very nervous! People weren't stopping for traffic lights because you couldn't see them! @robinwarner Your too sweet, Robin! :) Thank you! @mhatch Thanks, Mark!
I love this shot. Not only do you talk about the blackout but it made me think of all the issues with the mail system possibly shutting down certain days. Dark days for the mail :) Nice!
This is so kewl... love the angle.. and the light is making it seem as though it is looming off the page. You are most correct about our dependency on so many things we take for granted. When my kiddos were wee things we used to go on camping vacations.. tents and sleeping blankets.. unplug for a week.. no tv, no electricity at night just a lantern, board games and lots of laughter.
great angle and cool shot! I never heard of a power failure becoming an historic event. When I lived in PNG, blackouts were that common that we would celebrate if we got 24 hours of continuous full supply!
great picture too love it!
I don't really like doing these group thank you's but I seem to have gotten a little backed up! I want to thank all of you very much for your comments and favs! Funny, one of the thing I couldn't stop thinking about during the black out was "How am I going to do 365 without electricity!" Its a disease! ;o) Thank you again!!!!
