All the children in the severely Handicapped Classroom were given red and green and yellow paint and told to paint summer. To me, this 4 year old captured it very well.
After years teaching preschool I know that if you framed their paintings and put high price tags on them you would be able to sell them for big bucks at art auctions.
wow! the child who painted this has great talent. and the child is just four years old! a master painter in the making. i say preserve this photograph. and do frame the original. i have a feeling it's going to pan out into something big. great shot, dixie.
I really like this picture. You are so right. My older son attended Pratt. He took the "fine arts" classes which were basically the classical and naturalistic methods of painting. He absolutely HATED the modern art paintings claiming that "any kid can do what they do!" It angered him that someone could spray paint all over a canvas, think up some philosophical-sounding explanation for it and then charge a gazillion dollars as if it was art. However, I think he'd appreciate the childlike freedom of this shot- especially since he's the father of a very creative daughter now! I loved the colors on this right from the start- and yes- I think this little artist truly caught the feeling of summer on this one!
