Mondays in the 30daysinjune challenge are to be work related, of course this is another chance for me to mention that I've written a couple books, Duffy Barkley is Not a Dog, and Duffy Brkley: Seek Well, and am working on a couple more. It isn't my bill paying job (teaching is) but it is the one by which I define myself. How can I call it work though when I get to daydream on paper and mess around with my paints? Yet as much as I love writing, I have to chain myself to the desk, turn off the internet and force myself to concentrate, going from the vision in my head through the several drafts to the finished book is hours of discipline too.
I used to write but eventually lost my inspiration especially when I discovered it is so difficult to get published. This photo certainly illustrates your creativity and I wish you every success on your books.
@cimes1 I had lost my inspiration for years, then found a fun, silly group of people kind of like 365. They believe in the importance of everyone's story and that you should write "A quick, dirty, unedited first draft" so I joined up and wrote the first draft in a month, then started the real work on it which took a few more years. The site is NaNoWriMo (national novel writing month)
@mittens Thanks, I like to tell myself I'm talented anyway, depends on how I'm feeling day to day if I believe myself
I wish I had the time to be creative...I remember I used to love making up stories and writing them on paper! Now I write endless reports! Somehow takes the magic out of writing! Good for you...to find the time!
It's hard to call writing work sometimes (although the discipline aspect truly is work!). It's great that you've been able to be published. So exciting. It's fun to see your work displayed here too- especially since I've had the chance to read one of your books (before I gave it to my friend Olivia!).
@princesicita You can get my books on Amazon for $12.99 paperbacks, or if you have Kindle for 99 cents for the first one and $2.99 for the second. Just look for Dixie Dawn Miller Goode and they will both show up, or if you want me to mail you autographed copies, send me an email at dixiedoodle44@charter.net and I'll get them for $25 for the 2 books S&H included
