Yesterday we kept busy from morning to night. It was the parade first, then a picnic and hike in the redwoods and sitting by the river reading while my husband napped, then looking at the chalk paintings in the pastels in the park fundraiser and watching the fireworks and only then seeing our kids for a late meal at Denny's.
It was fun but in a low-keyed, forcing myself not to be sad about it only being my husband and me. The boys were working, the family is 1300 miles away and the friends we planned the picnic with got sick. I'm really mourning the loss of my little kids and yet proud that they are independent young men.
Beautiful collage, Dixie ... I got the firewords last night also. The crowd was huge and it was HOT! We had made plans with our daughter too, but she was sick. So just hubby and me. I really concentrated more on the camera than the fireworks. LOL You two should have been with us ... altho your day sounded more interesting. :)
It's hard when they grow up and move away- and it's different with boys. But it looks to me like you'll manage well- and the things you did on this day show you haven't forgotten what it's like to being the two of you. That makes a big difference I think. Nice collage!
