My husband has a sister, well, one of his three sisters, who talks endlessly - breathlessly. Getting her on the phone means not doing anything but um hmmm for over an hour. But Miss D did the impossible. She said Hi to her great Aunt and proceeded to count, the aunt listened to twenty, hemmed and hawed a bit but didn’t manage to interrupt to 100, and by 200 had remembered she suddenly really had to do something, urgently, off the phone. Bless you child.
Both Daisy’s mom and dad were amazing with numbers, and in high school math team, and off to college to study math, so it seemed right that today Daisy, who at 4 and 7 months, can read an analogue clock and do some adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing, got the star Mathematician award for her preschool class.
I love your story, Dixie.
