The sun was low in the western sky by the time I stepped foot on this trail. My target was a vintage bridge which spans the Arroyo Seco river. I took numerous shots of the bridge, but the lighting was too dim to do it justice.
So instead you get to see the path on the way to the bridge. (This was taken on the way down, but I turned around and shot UP the path)
When I was walking back up the path to my car, I saw a couple with 2 dogs. I quickly noticed that one dog was having a very difficult time walking up the incline. She was unsteady on her feet and the man kept assisting her in walking. I asked what was wrong with the dog and the woman said that the dog is SEVENTEEN years old and has trouble getting around. Her back legs are the worst, but they want her to keep using her front legs so she doesn't lose strength completely. She was a spunky dog and just kept putting one unsteady foot in front of the other with very short steps. It was sad and yet heartwarming at the same time.
I asked for and received permission to take Lucy's picture, but the light was so dim that my camera wouldn't focus. Only one shot is clear enough that you can even tell it's a dog. I may end up posting it, simply because Lucy deserves some recognition for being such a fighter.
Aw, well done you.... wasn't it last week where you missed a dog opportunity? I always get a bit caught out when people agree to have a photo taken, fumbling around with settings and trying to appear confident and as if I know what I'm doing!
Superb shot! I love the lighting and colors! I would LOVE to see the shot of Lucy if you want to post it. I love her story and it was very heartwarming to read... and a bit sad as well..... I'm a huge sap for animals.
This is great! Love all the textures and the twisty tree. Thanks for the story about Lucy, she sounds lovely and so do her people. I'd give her a pat on the head if I could. :)
Hope we can see Lucy one day, great story. A fav
