Million Dollar Theater by pasadenarose

Million Dollar Theater

This is NOT City Hall. This is the north side of The Million Dollar Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

It opened in 1918 and I don't know much about its history.
It has been a Spanish language theater since the 1950's and also served as a Spanish language church at one time.
The front of the building faces east, but the facade is marred by an intrusive after-market marque, so I chose the unobstructed north side for my shot.
Can you say "ornate"? Wow!
Well wow was the first word out of my mouth followed closely by intricate. There are a lot of hours carved into that facade. Stunning building even though my taste leans towards simplicity
