In Teagardens for Melody's mum's birthday. Old Pop Perrin was Melody's grandfather, and her dad reckons that the real name of the spot by the river should be Pop Perrin's Boatshed
It's just called the Boatshed now which seems a bit ordinary. In time people will probably forget old Tom Perrin built the boatshed over the river himself, and another part of the history of this seaside/river community will be lost. Giving the right names to things and places is important. I like it that in the pub up the street there are pictures of the old timers, and Pop Perrin is among them.
Today, the boatshed and cafe/restaurant is the biggest tourist attraction in town. It's nice to sit by the water and see the tide change beneath the pier, or the dolphins swimming up the river in the early morning light.
Apologies for not getting around to make comments as much as I should. Thank you all for your comments and faves. Sometimes life is just really hard.
Beautiful shot - preserving memories is so important - you should send them this photo, framed, and titled properly! It might help them to remember it. Take care :)
So serene, and the colors are wonderful. I appreciate your description of the changing tides and dolphins, and the history of those from generations past. I think it's so important to remember from who and from where we come. I would love to be able to visit a place like this, but I also very much enjoy seeing it through your photograph and words. Fav!
Beautiful shot Peter, the tranquility is just lovely. I dont get around to commenting as much as I'd like either but I'm still enjoying your lovely photos.
Very calming scene....the water is like glass. Thank you for your kind comments on my photos....but never worry if you don't have time. It's hard to keep up & I can't image how you do it with 489 followers! I'd be on the computer all day. Take care & just keep posting your beautiful photos.
Outstanding picture and I love the history behind the boatshed. What a charming place to visit. Peter, your comments truly mean alot to me, because I place you at the top of list, but I do understand -- you're busy taking more beautiful pictures! Keep 'em coming! Fav.
My first thought was "soothing!" Yes, and so calm. A beautiful scene ...I could look at this all day long, Peter. Yes, I agree that life is hard. Very hard. Do not worry about comments .... just take care of yourself. A FAV for me.
It's such a gorgeous shot, Peter! The water is like a mirror with the reflections. Beautiful light and tones of color. Excellent shot and great narrative! Happy b'day to Melody's mum! You are good to comment when you can. No worries from me. Life's priorities should be done first. Then if time allows...
Such calmness and peace in this image...I need to soak it up! It's yet another beautiful image Peter, you are a greatly talented person, take it easy on yourself, life can be so very difficult sometimes.
Lovely bit of history and what a beautiful place he chose to build his boat shed, what a treat for us to see such a wonderful, tranquil scene........I think you are brill at commenting, it does take so long, your comments show your sense of humour I love them!! btw a fav!!
What a lovely sunrise! I do hope that as time goes by, Melody's grandfather's name becomes synonymous with the Boatshed... I like preserving history... and sorry things are tough for you right now... hope things start looking up right away!
This is gorgeous. And my thought is this, you must tell the stories. I'm always amazed at how someone who's so busy will stop and listen to a story. Pop Perrin's boatshed won't be forgotten as long as someone wants to hear the story of how it came to be, or about the man who put it there. Tell the story.
