New Territory by pflaume

New Territory

One of the many things that I like about participating in the 365 Project is being inspired and motivated to see the world around me with fresh eyes. I find that I am looking more carefully and purposefully, and seeing things that I overlooked before. I am also going off the beaten path and discovering new territory in familiar places. Thanks to this project, every day is a new adventure.

This photo was taken in the canyon near my home. Today I approached it differently. There is no pedestrian access to the river so I left the main lookout point and climbed down an embankment to get to the water's edge. I felt like an quite an adventurer going where no one else goes and rewarded by this view.

This is beautiful, Lisa! I love that it's in black and white.

Good for you Lisa! That is one huge benefit of belonging to this website. It makes you teach your eyes to look beyond the ordinary that most people miss. It's so exhilarating to go back at the end of a year and see how much you have progressed in your photography skills!

It looks very beautiful and wild. I agree completely: I'm also noticing much more, seeing much more and appreciating much more how fortunate I am to live where I do. It's also brilliant seeing new places through other people's photos.

I was just telling my husband how pretty Idaho is, and that I learned that from 365! Obviously, this photo proves it! I love that it has made me more aware of the things I see everyday, but also has made me appreciate the beauty of other places.

This is a beautiful shot, Lisa. The b&w lets you focus on the structures and textures. Looks cold but wonderful!

Also love what you say, Lisa, about the project opening your eyes... I really think I'm seeing (really seeing) the beauty in the world more.

I also love seeing different parts of the world through different people's lenses. This is such a beautiful looking canyon. I love the mix of snow and water in it!

This is the second photo of yours that I recall from in the canyon, and I appreciate seeing a part of Idaho I might not see in person. But, be cautious around river ice!

@steampowered Thank you for your comment, Paul. This is the first time I have added a B&W shot, but this image lent itself to it because even in color, it looked B&W.

@rvwalker Ross, you have a good memory. I have posted a shot from the same canyon. I suspect it will show up again as the seasons change. I find it such an interesting landscape and it's also very close to me which is a plus. I will definitely be careful though. Although it might look kind of iffy, I was on solid ground the whole time. Thanks for your comment!
