Binary

Loved the geometric shadows cast on the side of this 1960's era motel. I saw them from the street and had to stop the car for photos. Two hotel workers on a smoke break watched me dubiously and finally inquired as to what exactly I was photographing. I'm pretty sure they weren't particularly impressed when I told them why, the great shadows, of course! My son, who is a computer programming buff, titled it for me.
Great photo. Excellent contrast and very apt title.

Perfect title, without the help I might have missed the best part of this! I'm so happy you see these things and bring them to us. Great composition and tones--we don't even see the gaps that are making the digits!

Love how you spot things from the car, well worth the stop, interesting shot.

Clever photography! Love it!

Excellent. Like this. Great geometry and form.
March 22nd, 2013
Brilliant shot and well spotted for the binary on the left and right hand sides. Instant Fav from an old programmer!

What a great shot - the shadows are great but the motel windows are fantastic too - the whole thing looks like a modernist architectural fantasy!
March 22nd, 2013
Brilliant! Like the symmetry in the shadows. Really well spotted!

Great shot. I love repetitive patterns and shapes. Glad I'm not the only one who gets strange looks when trying to take my photos!

Great shot,captured it brilliantly

It's not *just* binary.

What worries me is that beluga posted Marvin yesterday: http://365project.org/beluga/365/2013-03-21

Love this!

Brilliant! I love the things you spot, you have a great eye. I remember when this sort of architecture was considered "the latest thing"!
March 22nd, 2013
Awesome composition Lisa! A fav!
March 22nd, 2013
It's funny because a year ago something like this would have never caught my eye, put a camera in my hand and like you, now I do u-turns for things.. love the geometric patterns and shadows here.. well worth the stop ( and curious gaze of onlookers)
March 22nd, 2013
A really attention grabbing shot.
March 22nd, 2013
Great shot, perfect title!
March 22nd, 2013
love the geometry here! great find!
March 22nd, 2013
love the graphic feel of it. what a great find!
March 22nd, 2013
Nice shot! Well, you have reached another 365 milestone- you've made people wonder what you are doing! lol My neighbors have probably thought the same things as they watch me wander around the front yard with my camera and then start taking pictures of the rocks and trees! Good shot!

The patterns are great. Wonderful capture.

Fantastic Lisa, love the shapes and shadows. Great find, perfect title.
March 22nd, 2013
What a great find! I think lots of us are in danger of car crashes as we spot cool things to shoot! Isn't it great to look at the world this way! Very inspiring.
March 22nd, 2013
Great title. Well seen. :)
March 22nd, 2013
very cool shot. love the symmetry of the squares & shadows. Pov works really well

My husband is an engineer so I so get this. Really great shot and shadows, my friend. Love it. Fav!

Great shadow and clever title. Looks someone had written lol on the wall.

Stunning shot!
March 22nd, 2013
So well spotted and captured supremely well: brilliant Lisa !

@mandapanda1971 You are so right! My peripheral vision is working overtime when driving since starting this project. I have to remind myself to watch the road! On the plus side, I notice that I have slowed down a lot so no risk of speeding tickets!
March 22nd, 2013
@noragentian Thank you, Ruth. I hadn't seen the LOL! I'm glad you pointed it out.
March 22nd, 2013
@amandal So glad you like it, Amanda! Thanks much for the fav!!
March 22nd, 2013
Oh, great shot and great story :-)
March 22nd, 2013
Another interesting geometric shot with a clever title. I've been asked a few times what I'm doing - usually when I'm crouching on the ground photographing flowers.
March 22nd, 2013
I can feel the draft of the eye roll from the smoking workers from here ;-)
I LOVE this shot. Especially in B&W. and the title, too
March 22nd, 2013
What a fab find! Love the shapes and story! You have such a good eye!
March 22nd, 2013
Caz
Well spotted !
March 23rd, 2013
Well seen and captured - love the geometry and the shadows. Don't you just love it when you have to try to explain to people what you're taking pictures of?
March 23rd, 2013
love it, especially in b&w, dont worry about what the workers thought :)
March 23rd, 2013
Killer shot! The light and shadows are just amazing! I like the title too :-) Tell your son good job.
March 23rd, 2013
Oh, I just love the geometry of this, and the b&w is really effective here. Excellent shot!
March 23rd, 2013
Love this, Lisa. Once again, I love how you see the world!
March 23rd, 2013
@cathieg Oh, gosh, thank you so much, Cathie. You are so sweet to say that!
March 23rd, 2013
Great shapes and lines. I like it in B&W.

Deb
Love the light and shadow. Very effective in b&w. :-)
March 23rd, 2013
Fantastic find, wonderful lines and patterns.
March 23rd, 2013
Your son nailed the title, and I think this is a very interesting photo. The dark squares are somehow ominous, although I can't put my finger on it. Bruce Grayum (a 365'er) and I were photographing motel signs a couple of months ago and got a lot of curious attention from the owners, not always impressed with us.
March 23rd, 2013
Well spotted, nicely captured!

Oh, well spotted Lisa. Those shadows are just like the old computer digits we used to have on our old dos computers. Love the geometric shapes here. I would have missed this completely. You have a great eye for a shot.
March 24th, 2013
Nicely captured shot, Lisa. Title is perfect too!
March 26th, 2013
This is so great! I absolutely love the angle and the shadows being cast. Really brilliant shot - looks awesome in b&w! Fave!
