Apparently GCEs don't count!

Hoping to start some training and I need to prove my competency at Maths and English. Apparently the A and B grades I got in my GCEs don't count. I was sent some revision notes a week ago and today took a Functional Skills level 2 diagnostic test. Despite the post it's life got in the way of revision so I was delighted to get almost 20% more than required in both subjects.
Congratulations. At school, it was only a few years ago, I was quite clever but totally flunked my English O-level. I just couldn't come up with a sensible essay with the given ideas. I knew I was writing a load of rubbish as I did it. I needed it so signed on at night school for an eight week course to do the re-sit. I only bothered going for three nights but ended up with an A.

@markp oh wow well done you! Fortunately this wasn't that in depth am certain there's no way I could write an exam passing essay now....school was many many years ago .. But it was enough to convince them to accept me on their training course so mission accomplished 😃

Well done! I took my Chemistry gcse 3 times before I passed and ended up teaching science! Exams are no measure of life skills.
