Whenever I try to take pictures of seagulls I get lots of pictures of empty blurred seascape... a seagull's bum is infinitely better than that ;-) (This is my revenge for your "asking Mrs S's advice" comment!)
I have to fav it! When I take pics of birds, butterflies, bees...the most crisply in focus one will almost always be the one where the animal is off to one side too much. or cropped off...I love them anyway. And I love this. The color tones are great and his feet! worth price of admission! fav
Great capture Kathy, I find it is so hard to get everything right when they are in flight, they are moving so quickly, you have great focus in this shot!
You're right about the attention being focused somewhere else since there's not a head and eyes to steal the show. I've studied the folded feet, the patterns in the tail feathers, the layers in the wings. The artistry of flight is showcased in this unique image!
Of course it works :) Love the detail you have caught in this guys feathers!! I've never had a successful photo of a bird in flight.. or of a bird in general.. so well done!!
