This maple lined country road leads down to Lake Temiskaming where in 1842 a missionary chapel was constructed to compliment a Hudson's Bay Companies post. In 1867, the Grey Sisters of Ottawa established the first hospital in our area. However in 1887 the mission was moved over to the Quebec side of the lake. Today all that remains is a large white cross.
I love going down to this old sight around this time every year because of the canopy of yellow, orange and red maples.
