Ruby- throated Hummingbird

Caught this ruby-throated hummingbird visiting my feeder today and the flowers in the garden. The hummingbird's rapid wing motion produces a distinct hum.... hence the bird's name.....which rises and falls according to the wing speed. At great accelerations the hum sometimes turns into a continuous high note, similar to that produced by arrows or bullets in flight. Always a delight to watch!
Stunning shot, you really were attentive to catch it while it's still

Great shot! I'm hoping to catch one at my feeder but it's going to be tricky. I also need to clean the window too!

Interesting about the name. Was not aware of that.

You certainly can hear them when they buzz by! This one seems especially tiny...might need to plump up after a long flight north!
