a single shot HDR is done by taking the original image and creating 2 more copies of it., one with the brightness increased and one with the brightness decreased by one stop in other post processing software. These 3 images are then combined into one HDR image. Very similar to having 3 bracketed shots to work with
@jml0306 - oh THANK YOU so much; I may try that - if so I'll tag you. Real HDR with whatever app would be involved and the patience to take 3 different exposures of the same photo are probably beyond me in a lot of ways right now, but what you suggest Joseph sounds like a real possibility.
