I saved this photo from earlier in the week for today's word of the day "Friends." I had just watched the beach sunset and as I was leaving, I turned around to see this group walking along the top of the sand berm. Every winter, this 10-foot high wall of sand is installed between the shore and a row of beachfront homes to protect them from flooding during high tides. The berm blocks their view of the water for several months but provides needed protection.
Many thanks to everyone who has viewed, commented, and faved my photos. I consider all of you as friends and mentors who provide me with daily inspiration through the fabulous images you post on 365.
@redy4et OK, I know the area. I was born and raised in Whittier and know the beach areas.... My parents had a beach house not far from Seal Beach for years when I was a kid.
