This wonderful hand carved walking stick with the head of an eagle is a memento that we got in Ketchican about 15 years ago. The eagle has guided us on hikes to many places including the national parks, the Grand Canyon, the San Juan Islands and Costa Rica.
But this week, the stick is getting some action on the home front - substituting for a pair of crutches--because on Valentine"s Day, hubby broke his foot (I won't go into detail but let's just say something heavy fell on it).
He's decided to make a companion of the stick, nick named Eagle Eye, which has come in handy for navigating stairs and makes for a great conversation starter. And looks cooler than crutches!
Oh dear, poor hubby. A good walking stick is a bonus ( I found an old crummy one which helped when I hurt my back and no way am I throwing it out! ). Yours looks a goodun :)
Sorry your husband got hurt, and hope he heals soon. Hopefully this beautiful carved walking stick --together with the memories of all the places the eagle and him have been to (including my dear natal CRica) will help to heal faster.
Oh dear! Hope it didn't spoil your Valentine's Day. I remember travelling up the Alaskan Panhandle on a ferry and stopping off at Ketchikan for some hiking back in 1994. Made the mistake of wearing shorts and no insect repellant. Boy did I suffer that first night in the tent. Those biting flies are ferocious!
Oh, no...how sad! This is a stunning walking stick but I bet he hadn't planned on it being his constant companion. Hope it heals quickly and thoroughly.
It's an amazing walking stick! The detail is wonderful and so glad it has come in handy for him. And sorry your husband broke his foot!! Hope it heals soon!
