To take our minds off the loss of our beloved kitty, we went sailing today for the first time in four months. It was a beautiful day with perfect wind conditions. We often sail in the vicinity of these oil and gas drilling platforms, located about 2 miles offshore near Huntington Beach.
Offshore oil and gas drilling in California provides a major portion of the state's petroleum production. There are close to 30 of these active locations up and down the coast.
