I wanted to experiment with a night shot using my tripod after going out to dinner last night. I set up on one of the docks for a couple shots. There were too many lights on the dock itself and the people I was with had no patience to wait so I packed up after a few minutes, then wasn't thrilled with the results. Lesson learned, dinner companions can sometimes compromise a photo shoot.
I think it came out well especially given the circumstances -- a lovely blue hour shot. And I agree, I've yet to have a good photo shoot experience when out with non-photographer companions. Their idea of a 'quick stop' and mine are very very different!
Yes, beautiful shot.....love all the blue/pink lights on the lighthouse, and the reflections on the water.....
Non photographers rarely have the patience to sit through a long exposure shot, especially if it involves retakes for the photographer to be satisfied! I have found a group of like minded individuals that have formed a Meetup group called Night Photography Lovers!! Yes, we all fumble away in the dark with our flashlights and our tripods.... :-)))
