Camellia buds are the iconic symbol of the fashion House of Chanel. They were the favorite flower of founder Coco Chanel and are featured on Chanel handbags and jewelry. This little camellia bud is growing on a bush on the side of my house. The processing in B&W was inspired by another fashion contribution of Chanel ---"the little black dress."

What a wonderful way to process this shot....it really brings out the delicate beauty of that camellia flower without the distraction of the green leaves. I used to have one from the previous owner of the house right by the front door, and I would always anticipate the flowers in the middle of the winter. Did not know the part about Chanel...
